Voluntary Public School Choice (VPSC) Overview

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has aggressively pursued federal dollars earmarked for the expansion of choice programs, that has been awarded over $70 million since 2001. Currently, M-DCPS receives funding through the Federal Voluntary Public School Choice (VPSC) program (iChoose!) and the Smaller Learning Communities (SLC) program. In Miami-Dade County Public Schools, VPSC has supported the launching of 51 choice programs in 44 schools, and SLC has supported the expansion of small learning communities/career academies in 34 senior high schools.
